A Day Hiking to Tai O

We had a wonderful easy hiking to Tai O, an old Fishing village abd Stilt-houses.
Scenery is good, weather was good, not a tough hiking, good for whole family that you can spend a day there. Then , on the way back you can buy some of the famous produce such as The Shrimp paste and Salt Fish.
How to get there
Tai O Fishing Village, Lantau Island (Outlying Island)1. Catch ferry from Central Pier 6 (MTR Hong Kong Station Exit E1. Walk through ifc mall) to Mui Wo, then bus 1 to Tai O.2. MTR Tung Chung Station, then bus 11 from Tung Chung Town Centre.

The Snake Peak

We had planned to crawl up the Snake Peak in 2008, after three trials, we succeeded at the last attempt. Due to the rains and typhoon, we had come to the middle of the hill and we were told to ourselves not to further moving up. The hill is scary as it is very steep and narrow.
Some part of trail can be hazardous that we had to force ourselves not to look downward.
Not Recommended for beginners.

Pat Sin Leng

Designated in 1978, Pat Sin Leng Country Park covers 3,125 hectares of natural terrain in the Northeastern New Territories. Pat Sin Leng The Eight Fairies is a range of eight stately peaks, each commanding an imposing presence like the fairy in Chinese mythology. Other famous spurs within the park are Wong Leng, Ping Fung Shan, Cloudy Hill (Kau Lung Hang Shan) and Kwai Tau Leng.
These majestic uplands are set amidst emerald lakes. The picturesque Hok Tau Reservoir and Lau Shui Heung Reservoir are well known leisure destinations with a host of country park facilities. In addition to serene catchment plantations, there are lakeside barbecue areas, picnic areas and campsites. It is not a bad idea to use the campsite as a base, and explore the surrounding wild country at your leisure.
Experienced hikers can test their skills on Stage 9 and Stage 10 of the Wilson Trail, two challenging sections that traverse Pat Sin Leng Country Park. These routes travel along the ridges of Wong Leng, Lai Pek Shan and Pat Sin Leng. On fine days, the view at the top is simply arresting. For miles across, peaks roll and billow, their intense greens set against the glinting water of Plover Cove Reservoir. When the sky is clear, you can see the urban maze of Shenzhen in the distance. The conglomerate atop Pat Sin Leng is known as cap-rock, a well known rock formation in geology.
Those Pat Sin (8 Fairies ) are Shun Yeung, Chung Li, Lao Lao, Kuai Li, Tsao Kau, Choi Wo, Sheung Tsz, Hsien Ku.

Tai Po shan, Hong Kong Highest Mountain

This is MacLehose Trail session No.8 a trail to mwalk up to the highest hill in Hong Kong with 965M.

Stage 7-8 is our favourite Trail as it is near the City, moderate difficulties with 3 Star (max. 5)
Just 14KM which is a distance for us to walk as a minimum distance that is good enough for a hard work out of our heart and Lung.

Hiking in Hong Kong

I have been practicing Hiking since 1999, and on 2000, we started Participating the Oxfam Trail Walker, I had been practicing Hiking almost every week in the past 10 years.

This year I had an accident and my knee was hurt, after 10 days , My right knee is still painful at certain angle, though it is not too painful as it was during the Oxfam Trail walker.

I will take a rest and once the knee is recovered, I will walk again.

From this web site, I plan to put some of the most beautiful Trail of Hong Kong.

Making my best effort to persue the 10th Oxfam Trail walker in 2010 is my next target!
